Muofhe Manavhela

Muofhe Manavhela

2000

She takes advantage of versatile mediums she works with to articulate themes of gender, race and the body. Her work takes on a conceptual approach as she tries to connect the viewer with her themes, ideas and thoughts, further bridging the gap – encouraging dialogue on the issues we face.

Muofhe Manavhela is a young self-taught multi- disciplinary artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

She does not confine herself to one medium, she works with lino, paint, pen, embroidery, digital and any medium she sees fit. Muofhe has taken her place as a social commentator. Her work explores the black female body in the context of a society that constantly negates it.

"My work explores the black female body in the context of a society that constantly negates it."
